Darrell James is a British writer for film, television, and stage, known for his sharp character-driven stories, dark humour, and emotionally resonant narratives.
His stage play Going Nowhere premiered at the Brixton Playhouse to critical acclaim, earning praise for its raw honesty and powerful exploration of ambition, failure, and friendship in modern Britain.
In film, his original screenplay Sideways to the Sun has been optioned by the BBC and is currently in development with a leading independent production company.
On the television side, his comedy-drama series Lucky Loser has also been optioned and is in development with Channel 4, generating significant buzz for its fresh voice and addictive blend of wit and heart.

A sharp, darkly comic stage play about two lifelong friends stuck in dead-end jobs and dwindling dreams, whose reckless plan to finally “make it” spirals into chaos. Performed at the Brixton Playhouse in 2025.
Sideways to the Sun
A full length feature film about opportunity that blurs the lines between morality and survival. Optioned by Channel 4 and now in pre production.
Lucky Loser
A comedy-drama TV series following a charming but chronically unlucky man who wins the lottery, but decides not to tell his overbearing wife or family.
